Without Abel Ferreira removed by Covid-19, team makes the worst game in the coach’s era.
The 1-1 draw between Palmeiras and Libertad ended up being good for the Brazilian team, which clearly felt the physical side of the exhausting season. On the one hand it was the best attack of the competition, on the other, it was the most defensive back among those classified for the quarterfinals. The teams played a game with chances for goals for both sides, with the Paraguayan team being superior most of the time. But who opened the scoring was Palmeiras with defender Gustavo Goméz, after a corner kick. In the second half, the hosts drew with Matías Espinoza.
The two teams will face each other next Tuesday (12/15), in São Paulo. Goalless draw qualifies the Brazilian team. The score is repeated, the dispute goes to penalties, and a tie with more than one goal classifies the Paraguayans. Whoever passes faces the winner of River Plate (ARG) and Nacional (URU).
