Football does not stop. Still without the end of the Copa do Brasil referring to the 2020 calendar, CBF held the draw for the next season of the competition. The pandemic left the calendar leaner, causing the dates to end up being almost run over.
Altogether, 80 clubs participated in the switching, resulting in 40 matches. The clashes took place through meetings between teams from the following pots: A x E, B x F, C x G, D x H.
The tournament will follow the same theme as the last edition: the first two phases with single matches and one classified. It is noteworthy that in the first of them, the tie classifies the visitor, precisely because there is no return game. In the second stage, in the event of a tie, the game is decided on penalties. The third and fourth phases now have round-trip games.
In addition to the ten pots with eight teams in each, another 12 teams are in the Copa do Brasil, but only start their participation from the third phase. They are: Flamengo-RJ, Ceará-CE, Internacional-RS, Brasiliense-DF, Atlético-MG, Chapecoense-SC, São Paulo-SP, Athletico-PR, Fluminense-RJ, Grêmio-RS, Palmeiras-SP and Santos- SP.
