Emiliano Martínez shines on penalties and puts Argentina in Copa América final

After a 1-1 draw in normal time, the goalkeeper takes three penalties and becomes the ranking hero.

Argentina is in the final of Copa América after an exciting game, at Mané Garrincha, in Brasília. With the tie 1-1 in normal time, Lionel Messi’s team beat Colombia on penalties by 3-2 and confirmed a spot in the final against Brazil.

Lautaro Martínez scored for Argentina in normal time. In the second half, it was Diaz’s turn to score for Colombia. With everything the same, the classification was decided on penalties, and then Emiliano Martínez’s star shone. With three saved penalties (Mina, Sánchez and Cardona), the goalkeeper was highlighted in the free kicks.

Owner of 14 titles in the competition, Argentina faces a 28-year fast without achievements. The team will try to break this writing next Saturday (10) when they face Brazil in the final of Copa América.
