Tombense and Ituano guarantee access. Five times still dispute two places
The Series B of the Brazilian Championship met the new members for next year. Tombense-MG and Ituano-SP reached 10 points in their respective groups and stamped their passport to the second division of football.
The first to achieve the feat was the club from the interior of Minas Gerais. The team went to Manaus to face the hosts and won 2-1. The winning goal was scored in the last move of the match by midfielder Jean Lucas. In addition to the victory, Tombense got a place in Serie B for the first time in history.
Now three clubs are still vying for the second place in Group B. Next Sunday, Novorizontino and Manaus face off in Novo Horizonte. Whoever wins guarantees access, as both have six points. In the other game, also on Sunday (07), Tombense – already classified – receives Ypiranga, who, despite being the group’s lantern, with five points, still dreams of Serie B. That’s because, if the match in Novo Horizonte finish in a draw and Ypiranga win, the club from Rio Grande do Sul qualifies.
Ituano’s passport was stamped after the goalless draw against Criciúma, in Santa Catarina. Time returns to dispute the series B after 15 years. Criciúma, on the other hand, no longer depends on him to climb. Tigre goes to Belém, to face the already Eliminated Paysandu, and, in addition to needing to win, he still has to root for a stumbling block from Botafogo-PB. The club from Paraíba goes to Itu to face the hosts and depends only on him to go up. In the event of a tie and victory for Criciúma, it is the people from Santa Catarina who will be awarded the vacancy. The Group A matches will be held next Saturday (6th).
