Barcelona beat Linares 2-1 to reach the last 16 of the Copa del Rey

Team Catalan had to work hard to eliminate the opponent and advance to the next level.

Away from home, Barcelona beat Linares by 2-1 and advanced to the last 16 of the Copa del Rey final. The game also marked the return of full-back Daniel Alves.

But it was the owners of the house who took the lead, with Hugo Diaz, at 19 in the initial stage. Barça turned only in the second half to Ousmane Dembelé (63) and young Ferran Jutglà (69).

However, Linares did not give up and could have taken the game to extra time, but Carracedo’s shot hit the corner of the goal defended by Brazilian goalkeeper Neto, who returned to action after five months.

Earlier, three teams from the Spanish first division that entered the field for the Copa del Rey – Real Sociedad, Mallorca and Valencia – also qualified for the round of 16 in the tournament and joined Espanyol, who won the spot on Tuesday.

However, as had happened with Espanyol the day before, the three teams had to suffer against lower division opponents.
