Fluminense beats Botafogo 1-0 in the first game of the Carioca semifinal

Arias scores the only goal of the match, and further increases the Tricolor advantage

Fluminense put a hand on the vacancy for the decision of the Carioca Championship. The team defeated Botafogo 1-0 on Monday night at Nilton Santos Stadium, in the first game of the State semifinals. Jhon Arias scored the goal of the match.

With the victory, Fluminense increased even more the advantage to guarantee the spot in the Carioca final. For having made the best campaign in the Guanabara Cup, Tricolor qualifies with two equal results and the same aggregate score. That is, Botafogo needs a victory by two goals difference in the return game.

In an uninspired match, the goal came in the second half. Yago Felipe, precisely one of the three players who entered during the second stage and helped to improve the team. Shirt 20 found a good pass for Jhon Arias, who entered the area alone and scored.

The two teams will face each other again next Sunday, at 16:00 (Brasília time), at Maracanã. Whoever advances will face Flamengo in the final.
