Atlético-MG wins Athletico-PR again and wins the Copa do Brasil

Vitória do Galo by 2-0 gives the team’s bi-championship in a magical year for the club

The year 2021 is marked in the history of Atlético-MG. The season ended with another title for Rooster. After the conquests of the Minas Gerais and Brazilian Championships – which came after 50 years of fasting – the ball at the time was the bi-championship of the Copa do Brasil, which made the club achieve the triple crown. This feat had not happened for 18 years, when in 2003, Cruzeiro also won all three competitions.

The goals for the title were from the two biggest names in the finals: Keno, and Hulk, one each time – Jaderson declined. The hosts still had two goals disallowed correctly, one at each half.

After the 4-0 rout at Mineirão, Galo could lose by up to three goals difference to take the title, but beat Athletico-PR again, this time by 2-1, at Arena da Baixada. With an aggregate score of 6-1, Atlético won the Copa do Brasil for the second time in history. The first was in 2014, when he defeated rival Cruzeiro in the decision. Hurricane, on the other hand, took the vice-championship for the second time and had an achievement, which was in 2019 over the Internacional.
