Bayern Munich and Tigers face off in World Cup final

German team goes in search of the fourth title while Mexicans try the unprecedented title

Soon after the ball has finished rolling in the game between Palmeiras and Al Ahly, the opening whistle will be given for the FIFA Club World Cup decision between Bayern Munich and Tigres-MEX.  The match will be held at the Cidade da Educação Stadium in Doha, Qatar.

Bayern can achieve a feat that was only achieved by Pep Guardiola’s Barcelona in 2009, which is the crowning of the sixth title in just one year.  So far, the team led by Hansi Flick has won the German Championship, the German Cup, the German and European Super Cups, as well as the Champions League.

The current Bayern squad is used to breaking marks.  He scored at least one goal in 58 consecutive games.  He averages almost three goals per game this season.  He lost only two games out of the 31 he held in 2020/21.  And it has the current best player in the world.  Lewandowski reached 29 goals in 27 games this season and is looking for another career artillery.  He has two goals and is one behind Tigres’ Gignac, who has three goals in the Club World Cup.  The attackers promise to fight a separate duel.  The number 9 of the German team has 316 games and 275 goals scored.  Tigres’ top scorer has 246 games and 147 goals.  Numbers that impress and bring headaches to any defense.

Tigres has already made history by being the first Mexican team to reach a Mundial final.  The team led by Brazilian Tuca Ferretti tries to be the first non-European or South American to lift the cup.  The Brazilian has been in charge of Tigres for over 10 years and is most responsible for the club’s recent achievements.

Europeans have won 12 of the last 13 World Cup titles.  They have been champions in a row since Bayern Munich itself, in 2013. The team also won in 1976 and 2001. Adding to the editions of the extinct Intercontinental Cup, Europe has 33 cups, against 26 in South America. Tigers seek to change that  statistic.

The top four finishers receive a financial award from FIFA.  The champion, in addition to the trophy, wins 5 million dollars, while the vice winner receives 4 million dollars;  the third pays 2.5 million;  while the fourth takes $ 2 million home.
