German team repeats Pep Guardiola’s Barcelona achievement with six cups this season

Bayern Munich won yet another trophy from this overwhelming season for the German team.  With the 1-0 win against Tigres-MEX, the team lifted the sixth cup of the 2020 calendar. Defender Pavard was the author of the only goal of the match, in the 13th minute of the second half, in a questionable move.  In the first stage, the Bavarians had already opened the scoring, but the goal was canceled after Lewandowski’s impediment.  With this achievement, the team matches the feat of Barcelona in 2009, which also won all six competitions that it disputed that year.  This was the fourth world title for the Germans, who had already won in 1976, 2001 and 2013. In addition to the FIFA Club World Cup, the team led by Hansi Flick also won the German Championship, German Cup, German and European Super Cups, plus the Champions League.

Even without being able to count on Jerôme Boateng, Leon Goretzka and Thoma Muller, the German team dominated the game against Tigres.  There were 19 submissions, nine of which were on target, while the Mexicans had only three conclusions, with one going to the opposing goal.

Striker Robert Lewandowski was named the best player in the 2020 Club World Cup. He scored two goals in the tournament.  Second was Tigres’ French striker Gignac, who was also the competition’s top scorer with three goals.  The bronze ball went to Bayern’s Kimmich.

Despite the defeat, the team led by Brazilian Tuca Ferretti for more than 10 years left the World Cup with their heads held high.  For the first time a Mexican team reached the tournament decision.  The runner-up earned Tigres a $ 4 million prize pool, while Bayern took Germany $ 5 million.
