Botafogo is Series B champion

Alvinegro wins, has a stumbling block from Coritiba and takes it to be two-time champion of Série B. Five more times they dispute two spots to get the desired access to A

With access to Serie A already guaranteed, Botafogo and Coritiba disputed who would be the champion of the second league, which could – and was – decided with one round before the end of the championship.

Botafogo went to Pelotas, in Rio Grande do Sul, facing the already relegated and lantern Brasil de Pelotas. Diego Gonçalves’ goal in the first half not only guaranteed the victory for Alvinegro, but also crowned the title; this is because, playing for Couto Pereira, Coritiba did not do their homework and was defeated 1-0 by CSA. The goal of the match was scored by Wellington, in the second stage.

Even with the title guaranteed, Botafogo will only receive one cup next Sunday. CBF will perform the official delivery of the Series B title at Nilton Santos stadium, after the match against Guarani.

Today, two more games complete the 37th and final round of Serie B. Still fighting for the G-4, the CRB receives Vitória, in King Pelé. Without depending on the legs, with 57 points and occupying the seventh place in the table, the time of Alagoas still dreams of access to Serie A. For that, the victory against the Bahians is crucial to keep the hope of playing in the elite of football. On the other hand, Vitória is desperate to escape relegation to Serie C. The Brazilian from Bahia is in Z-4 and desperately needs the three points to take a breath.

Later, at 8 pm (Brasilia time), it is the Guarani’s turn to receive Goiás, at Brinco de Ouro, in Campinas. A victory is enough for the visitors to stamp their passport back to Serie A. On the other hand, Guarani counts on the support of the fans to help the team also gain access. A victory leaves the team very well on the way to returning to the first division. In case of a tie or defeat, Campinas can go to the last round when it’s not just up to you.

At the moment Series B has five times fighting for two spots for access. Avaí is in third place, with 61 points and 37 games. Goiás appears in fourth position, with 61 points and 36 games. On Thursday comes CSA, with 59 and 37 matches, followed by Guarani, with 59 and 36 matches, and the last one in the dispute is CRB, with 57 and 37 games.
