Brazilian team seeks to repeat the good football from the debut and stay in the lead.
After the 5-0 win over Bolivia, at the Neo Química Arena, São Paulo, Brazil faces Peru away from home, at 9:00 pm, Brasília time, at the National Stadium, in Lima. The last face-off among the teams was in the Copa America final last year when Tite’s team won by 3-1 and took the championship. Due to a large number of Covid-19 cases on Peruvian soil and following medical protocols, the Brazilian delegation chose to do all the preparation for the game in Brazilian territory. The team only arrived in Lima on Monday night and will even perform the field recognition.
In the last qualifiers, Brazil beat Peru both at home and abroad. At the home game, the team won 3-0, with goals from Douglas Costa, Renato Augusto, and Filipe Luís. In Lima, Gabriel Jesus and Renato Augusto, again, scored for the 2-0 win.
Despite the historic and frank favoritism of the Brazilian team over the hosts, it is worth mentioning that the hosts are living one of the best football periods ever. In the recent past, the team qualified for the World Cup in Russia, after 38 years without disputing it. All this led by striker Paolo Guerrero, who became the main and greatest scorer in the history of the team.
In the first qualifying round, Peru scored 2-2 with Paraguay and is currently in fifth place. Recalling that the four best teams get a direct spot in the World Cup Qatar 2022. The fifth place disputes a playoff in the knockout system (round trip) with a representative from another continent not yet defined by FIFA.
