Brazil faces Saudi Arabia in the last round of the Tokyo-2020 Olympic Games group stage

Gabriel Menino should be the replacement for Douglas Luiz, who was sent off in the last match

The Tokyo Olympics men’s soccer group stage reaches the final round. The Brazilian men’s team will face Saudi Arabia this Wednesday (28), at 5:00 am (Brasilia time), at Saitama Stadium, in Tokyo. This will be the first duel of the Canarinha team in the Japanese capital, after playing twice in Yokohama.

With four points, Brazil is the leader of Group D and needs a victory to seal a place in the next phase. Côte d’Ivoire have the same four points but are behind on goal difference. Germany is third with three and Saudi Arabia, already eliminated, has zero.

For the decisive confrontation, coach André Jardine will not be able to count on Douglas Luiz, suspended after being sent off in the last round. Gabriel Menino is the likely replacement.

On the other side, Saudi Arabia, with two defeats and no points won, enter the field just to fulfill the table.

If they advance to the quarter-finals, Brazil will cross with group C, who have Spain, Australia and Argentina fighting for the spots. The duels of the next phase will be this Saturday (31), while the grand final is scheduled for the 7th of August.
