Brazil is two-time Olympic champion

In overtime, the team beats Spain 2-1 and wins the gold medal

Yokohama is, in fact, the stage for Brazilian football’s achievements. After 19 years of winning the five-time world championship, Brazil returned to the Japanese city to win the two-time Olympic championship, in a 2-1 victory over Spain. And it was suffered. The gold medal only came in overtime, after a 1-1 draw in normal time.

Still in the first half, Richarlison, top scorer at the Olympics, with five goals, wasted a penalty kick. But Brazil was not shaken and opened the scoring before the break with Matheus Cunha. In the second stage, Spain equalized with Oyarzabal. Fury even placed two balls on the trip before the match went to additional time.

André Jardine had to change the team and put Malcom in the place of Matheus Cunha, who left in pain. And it worked. In the second half of overtime, the striker gave a beautiful ball from Antony and put Brazil in front again, which ensured the bi-championship of the Olympics.

Brazilian men’s football is an Olympic sport with the most medals for the country in the history of the competition. In total, there are seven medals, two of which are gold, three silver and two bronze.
