Brazil makes World Cup debut against Serbia

The search for the Brazilian team for the sixth World Cup title begins this Thursday, when Tite’s team will face Serbia, at 4 pm (Brasília time), at the Lusail stadium, in Doha, Qatar. The Group G clash marks the debut of the two teams in the World Cup.

The national team started the preparation for the Cup with a question: would Fred be the steering wheel next to Casemiro, with Paquetá more advanced, or would Vini Jr join the team? However, it was discovered that the Real Madrid striker would form the attacking quartet alongside Neymar, Raphinha and Richarlison.

Thus, Fred will start on the reserve bench, and Paquetá will be withdrawn. The formation is unprecedented, as in the 3-0 victory over Ghana, in September, Tite adopted a similar team, but with different sides. On the occasion, Éder Militão and Alex Telles were the starters.

Serbia will be able to count on striker Mitrovic, one of the stars of the national team. The Fulham, England player had suffered a foot injury on October 29 and had still not recovered by the time he arrived in Qatar.

On the other hand, coach Dragan Stojkovic still does not know if he will be able to count on midfielder Filip Kostic, who defends Juventus, also recovering from injury. Without him, the replacement must be Filip Mladenovic, from Legia Warsaw, Poland, to close the midfield on the left.

ONLY ONE BRAND SELECTION: MORE THAN 2.5 GOALS

Brazil will play Serbia once again in the group stage of a World Cup. The last time both teams played was in the last edition of the world cup.

As in the previous edition, the Brazilian team is considered a clear favorite to win. The main bookmakers are offering odds below 1.50 for a victory for Brazil.

In this sense, other markets become more interesting options to bet on the match. One of them is the market: Only one team scores and more than 2.5 goals.

The Brazilian team is seen as a big favorite to win the competition and, therefore, there are high expectations that they will make their debut showing what they came for.

TOTAL GOALS: MORE THAN 2.5 GOALS

Another betting market alternative for the match between Brazil and Serbia for the 2022 World Cup is the total goals. This option is considerably safer than the previous guess.

Bookmakers are paying around 1.80 for a game with more than 2.5 goals. Despite not being a very high odd, there is a good probability that this number of goals will be scored in the match.

Brazil as much as Serbia scored many goals in their last matches played before the Qatar Cup. The European team beat Sweden 4-1 and Norway 2-0 in the last two Nations League games before the Cup.

On the other hand, Brazil comes from elastic victories in the last friendlies against Tunisia and Ghana. A score with more than 2.5 goals, regardless of who scores them, is very likely in the debut of the Brazilian team.

How were the previous games between the selections

In the last five games, the Brazilian team won all of them. Then, 4 x 0 in Bolivia, 5 x 1 against South Korea and Tunisia, 3 x 0 against Ghana, and 1 x 0 against Japan.

Meanwhile, Serbia won, in a friendly, against Bahrain, by 5 x 1, and in the Nations League, Norway, by 2 x 0, in addition to two victories over Sweden, by 1 x 0 and 4 x 1. However, it stayed at 2 x 2, against Slovenia.

Brazil v Serbia Retrospective

According to the website oGol, after the separation of Serbia from the Yugoslav bloc, there were two matches and two Brazilian victories. In 2014, in preparation for the World Cup, in Brazil, the score was 1 x 0. Later, in 2018, in Russia, for the group stage, another green and yellow victory, by 2 x 1.
