Chelsea beat Lille 2-1 to advance to the quarterfinals

The English score a goal each half and confirm favoritism

After winning 2-0 in London, Chelsea returned to defeat Lille on Wednesday and secured a spot in the quarter-finals of the European Champions League. Playing at home, the French team had the support of the crowd and came out ahead with Yilmaz taking a penalty, but saw Pulisic and Azpilicueta, one at a time, enact a turn for Thomas Tuchel’s men: 2-1.

Jorginho lived different moments in an interval of just over 10 minutes. In the 36th minute of the first half, he used his arm to block a rival’s attempt in the area and committed the penalty converted by Yilmaz-marked by the referee after reviewing the monitor. At 47, in the last bid before the break, the player redeemed himself with a beautiful assistance for Pulisic to leave everything the same, in the first finalization of the English team of the match.

At the return of the break the game remained balanced. But it was the Blues that prevailed. Azpilicuet took advantage of Mount’s cross and completed on his knees for the English team’s turn and crown the current champions in another quarter-final of the Champions.
