Eintracht Frankfurt and RB Leipzig take advantage in Europa League semi-finals

German teams beat West Ham and Rangers respectively in the first leg

The Germans took a step forward in the first leg of the Europa League semi-finals. Eintracht Frankfurt, ninth in the Bundesliga, and RB Leipzig, fourth, won matches against West Ham and Rangers respectively.

Away from home, Frankfurt beat West Ham 2-1 in London. Knauff opened the scoring for the visitors in the first minute of the game, after an assist from Colombian Borré. Antonio, at 21 of the first stage, left everything the same. In the second half, at nine, Kamada gave final numbers.

In Leipzig, the home team made it 1-0 over the Scots with a late goal. In the 40th minute of the second half, Angeliño scored the net.

In the return games, which take place next Thursday, West Ham and Rangers will need wins by two or more goals difference to advance without the need for extra time. There is no criterion of the goal scored away from home.

The Europa League final takes place on Wednesday, May 18, at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium, home of Sevilla, Spain. The winner guarantees a spot for the 2021/22 Champions League.
