For Copa do Brasil, Cuiabá wins Botafogo in the first game

The Alvinegro now needs to win by two or more goals difference to move for the next phase.

Cuiabá surprised by beating Botafogo by 1 to 0 in the first game of the round of 16 of the Copa do Brasil, in Nilton Santos, Rio de Janeiro. Matheus Barbosa’s goal at the beginning of the second half was a cold shower for the Cariocas. That’s because, at the beginning of the game, Botafogo seemed willing to conduct the game to have a smooth scenario at home. The final numbers indicate that the team exchanged more than twice the passes of the opponent, but none of the 500 touches and the 23 goal kicks did not result in actual goals.

Now Cuiabá is a tie away from the classification. The two teams will face each other again on November 3rd. The Rio team needs to win by two goals difference in order to advance in the competition. A victory by a single goal takes the dispute to a penalty kicks decision.

Today the ball rolls at four more games. In the afternoon, Santos faces Ceará, at Vila Belmiro. Soon after Atlético-GO receives Palmeiras, in Goiânia. At night, Flamengo faces Athletico-PR, in Curitiba and Corinthians will face América-MG, in São Paulo.
