France beats Spain 2-1 and is champion of the League of Nations

Benzema and Mbappé command the French turn

France once again displayed the power of the team. Current world champion, disappointed by falling into the round of 16 of the Euro, but now she is back in favor and won another title. The victim this time was Spain, which could do nothing to stop Bleus in their 2-1 comeback defeat at the San Siro in Milan, northern Italy.

After a very balanced and goalless first half, around the break a lot changed. Furia took the lead in the 18th minute with striker Oyarzabal. Center forward Benzema equalized a few minutes later, with a great goal. And the decisive (and controversial) move was Mbappé. The shirt 10 appeared to be in an offside condition, ahead of defender Eric García. But the bid was confirmed after VAR review. There is discussion about touching the ball by the Spanish defender. If that happened, the goal is valid, according to the current rules for offside.

In the end, Spain put pressure on, forcing goalkeeper Lloris to make two great saves, guaranteeing the League of Nations title for France and another achievement for coach Didier Deschamps.

Mbappé scored four goals for France in this final stretch of the League of Nations. Two of his own and two more assists, numbers superior to another player in the semifinalist teams. The Paris Saint-Germain forward is 22 years old, but has already scored 19 goals in 51 games for the national team.

The Real Madrid forward was six years away from the national team because of a police scandal (accused of involvement in blackmail in Valbuena). In the Euro Cup, he scored four goals, but France fell in the round of 16. Benzema seized the chance of redemption in the League of Nations. At the end of Sunday, he scored a beautiful goal and was voted best on the field. He has 20 goal appearances in 15 games this season.
