In overtime, Palmeiras beat Flamengo by 2-1 and is three-time champion of the Libertadores

Andreas Pereira commits individual failure and Dayverson scores Verdão’s title goal

It was a final worthy of the Liberators of America. At the Centenário stadium, in Montevideo, Palmeiras and Flamengo played a game full of emotions, with the time in São Paulo getting the better of it and achieving the third championship in the competition.

Champion in 2020, Palmeiras opened the scoring right at the start of the match with Rapahel Veiga, after a quick exit from Verdão’s game. Flamengo even tried to equal the score before the break, but goalkeeper Weverton prevented it.

In the second half, when the 1-0 is the final result, Gagibol will sound on the left and hit the goal. With the tie, the match went to overtime. Before, Flamengo created some chances, the main one with Michael who, face to face with Weverton, kicked them out.

In overtime came the crucial part of the match. Midfielder Andreas Pereira curled up with a ball and gave it to Dayverson, who left the bench to crown another Palmeiras title. After that, Flamengo even tried, but managed to do little.

With the tri-championship, Palmeiras joined São Paulo, Santos and Grêmio, as the Brazilians with the most achievements in Libertadores.
