Tricolor takes the lead, has a goal canceled and takes a turn.
Independiente Del Valle-EQU won Grêmio 2-1, for the third phase of the Libertadores, at the Defensores del Chaco stadium, in Asunción, Paraguay. Because of Covid-19 restrictions, the Ecuadorian government did not allow the match to be held in the country, as some Grêmio players tested positive for the virus.
When the ball rolled, in the first submission of the game, Diego Souza opened the scoring, after deflecting a free kick from Alisson. At the end of the first half, Grêmio still saw Ferreira’s goal annulled, in a controversial move. In the second stage, Dell Valle, who had already been showing good football, became the scorer with Faravelli (twice). The gaucho tricolor still had and Ruan expelled.
The return match will take place next Wednesday (14), at 7:15 pm (Brasília time), at the Arena do Grêmio, in Porto Alegre. Now Grêmio need to win 1-0 or two goals apart to advance to the Libertadores group stage. If you win by one difference, but from the result of 3 to 2, you are eliminated. If you return the score of the first game, the classification will be decided on penalties.
