Ituano is two-time champion of Serie C

Galo beats Tombense 3-0 and increased national champion that didn’t come from 2003

Ituano is champion of the C Series of the Brazilian Championship for the second time. This Saturday, with the presence of 6,173 people at the Novelli Júnior stadium, in Itu, Galo beat Tombense 3-0, and crowned a campaign that guaranteed access to Série B with the title of the third national division. In the first game, the match was tied at 1-1, so a single victory was enough for one of the teams to take the title.

The first goal of the match was scored by forward João Vitor, after a grotesque failure by goalkeeper Felipe. In the first half, the home team expanded with defender Igor Henrique.

On the way back from the break, Tombense even tried but without any great dangers. At the end of the match, the miners still had Everton expelled after intervention by the VAR. In additions, Galo finished the match with Iago Tales.

Champion of the Brazilian Series C for the first time in 2003, Ituano ended a 32-year period without winning a title playing at home. The first – and only – time had been in 1989, when time conquered access to the elite of the São Paulo Championship.
