Team reaches ninth achievement in history and first for Pirlo

Juventus, winner of the Italian Championship 2019 and Napoli, winner of the Italy Cup 2019, faced off in a unique confrontation held at the stadium in the Città del Tricolore, in Reggio Emilia, Italy.  The Old Lady won and won 2 to 0. With a balanced first half, the teams were unable to open the scoring.  The net only wobbled in the second half with Cristiano Rolando and Alvaro Morata, already in extra time.  Napoli had the chance to draw with Lorenzo Insigne, when they still lost 1-0, but the striker missed a penalty kick.

This was the new time that Juventus won the title of the Italian Super Cup, further expanding the title gallery of this competition, which has Milan as the second biggest winner, with seven achievements.  Ninth trophy for the Old Lady and the first for Andrea Pirlo as a coach, who won the first meeting with his friend and former teammate of also trainer Gennaro Gattuso.  Napoli, who has two Super Cup titles, played in the fourth final of the competition.  All the clashes were against Juventus.

Now, the teams return to the field next weekend for the 19th round of the Italian Championship.  Juventus host Bologna on Sunday (24), while Napoli visit Hellas Verona.  The two teams continue in pursuit of leader Milan, leader of the championship, with 43 points.  Nine more than Napoli, third place and ten ahead of Juventus, fifth place.
