Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James has reportedly agreed to a two-year, $97.1 million contract extension. The pact includes a player option for the 2024-25 season.
The four-time champion was entering the final year of a deal worth $44.5 million. His extension includes a 15% trade kicker and has a max value of $111 million depending on salary-cap rises. James becomes the highest-paid player in NBA history, his $532 million in guaranteed money surpassing Brooklyn’s Kevin Durant, ESPN reports.Â
The 2022-23 campaign will mark James’ 20th in the league. Health permitting, he could eclipse Kareem Abdul-Jabbar on the all-time scoring list in the coming year.
This is a developing story.Â
