Driver matches Michael Schumacher’s mark with an impressive victory.
What seemed impossible to many became reality. At the age of 35, Lewis Hamilton achieved Michael Schumacher’s incredible scoring: being seven-times Formula One champion. The race was not easy for Hamilton. The start in the sixth position was an obstacle that the driver had to overcome. The Brit took a one-stop strategy, which worked perfectly. Such a measure put him in the fight for the leadership that later would materialize. In addition to the seven-time championship, Hamilton also achieved an incredible mark of 94 wins in Formula 1. Sergio Perz, from Racing Point, was in second place and Sebastian Vettel, from Ferrari, was third.
The general classification was as follows: champion Hamilton got 307 points, followed by Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes) with 197, in third place Max Verstappen (Red Bull) with 170 points, Sergio Pérez (Racing Point) with 100 and closing the quintet, Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) with 97 points.
On the builders’ side, the fight for the third overall position remains fierce. Mercedes is left with 504 points, second place is very well underway with Red Bull which has 240 points. Racing Point took third place with 154, against 148 from McLaren and 136 from Renault.
Formula 1 will be back in two weeks at the Baren GP in the Middle East. This is going to be the 15th stage in a total of 17 races.
