Libertadores round of 16 draw defined

Brazilians and Argentines need three clashes: Flamengo vs Defensa and Justicia, Atlético-MG vs Boca and São Paulo vs Racing

Conmebol defined this Tuesday afternoon the next clashes for the round of 16 of the Libertadores 2021, which will have a final disputed in a single match, at the Centenário stadium in Montevideo, Uruguay.

The highlight goes to the clashes between Brazilians and Argentines who will face each other three times in this phase of the competition. Flamengo against Defensa y Justicia, Atlético-MG against Boca Junior and São Paulo against Racing. Current champion of Libertadores, Palmeiras will face Universidad Católica (CHI). Internacional faces Olimpia (PAR). The round of 16 duels will take place in July, the first matches are scheduled for a week on the 14th, and the return matches for a week on the 21st.

The draw also defined all the switching until the end of the Libertadores. In the round of 16, the teams that finished first in their respective groups will play the match at home. From the quarterfinals onwards, a team that had the best campaign in the group stage will be home to the return games.
