Manchester City face Chelsea and could be English champions this Saturday

A victory is enough for the team to lift the seventh English Championship title

The Champions finalists will face each other today, at 1:30 pm, Brasília time, at Eithad Stadium, in Manchester. A simple City victory guarantees another Premier League title for the team. If they win, this will be the seventh Premier League title, being the fifth in the Premier League era. It will also be the third trophy of the competition erected by Pep Guardiola, who since he arrived, has led the team in four Premier League seasons.

Manchester City easily leads the English Premier League with 80 points, 13 more than second-placed rival United. The team could have already claimed the title last weekend, but the Manchester United classic with Liverpool has been postponed until next Thursday. If they defeat Chelsea, City will not depend on the outcome of that game or any other to celebrate.

The 20/21 season in England has been marked by the clash between the two teams. In addition to the Champions League final and today’s decisive game, Chelsea and City faced each other in the FA Cup semifinals with the Blues getting the better of them. For the first round of the Premier League, it was City who did well by winning 3-1 at Stamford Bridge.

For the match soon, Guardiola will not be able to count on defender John Stones, who remains suspended. There is a possibility for the coach to make some changes in the team, such as the exchange of Fernandinho for Rodri. On the Chelsea side, Tuchel can spare Thiago Silva and put Zouma in the back. Kovacic is out of the game.

Since the arrival of coach Thomas Tuchel, the London team has been growing steadily. Under his command, the Blues moved from ninth position, with 29 points, to fourth place, with current 61. In 15 games in the English league, there were nine wins, five draws and only one defeat. In total there were 20 goals scored and eight conceded, and in 11 opportunities the defense was not leaked. The numbers are still impressive when calculated in the total games of the coach in front of the team. He played 24 games this season, with 16 wins, six draws and just two defeats. There were 32 goals in favor and 10 against, missing a goal in 18 matches.
