Manchester United and Everton face each other in the third round of the FA Cup

After the stoppage of the Cup, English football continues at full steam over the weekend, but this time, with the FA Cup. Manchester United host Everton at Old Trafford on Friday for the third round of the FA Cup. The ball rolls from 5 pm (Brasília time). It is worth remembering that, according to the regulation of the competition, the vacancy in the next phase is decided in a single game.

United, who are fourth in the Premier League table, arrive to face Everton on the back of a four-game winning streak. The Red Devils returned on a high after the World Cup break with three consecutive wins against Nottingham Forest, Wolverhampton and Bournemouth. Last season United exited the FA Cup in the fourth round when they were knocked out by Middlesbrough.

Frank Lampard’s team continues to fight against relegation in the Premier League. The team’s situation is complicated, as the Toffees are in 18th place and have not won for six games, the last defeat being for Brighton, by 4-1, at home. Despite the bad sequence, the FA Cup can be an alternative for the Toffees to turn the key in the season.

Manchester United to score both halves – Yes

Making use of its technical superiority, it is possible that Manchester United will be able to take the lead in the first stage. Everton’s defense has conceded six goals in the last three games, and is likely to have their nets rocked in both halves of that duel.

Less than 10.5 corners – Yes

In their last matches, Everton haven’t conceded more than 10 corners to their opponents. It can be believed, then, that Frank Lampard’s men will not let the match exceed that mark.

2 or 3 goals scored – Yes

The difference between the two teams can be decisive for the score of the match. Manchester United are riding a four-match winning streak, while Everton are still winless on their return from the World Cup. The match must have at least two goals scored.

Manchester United v Everton Retrospective

Of the last 209 clashes recorded between Manchester United and Everton, the Red Devils won 91, while the Toffees were victorious in 70 opportunities. The other 48 matches ended in draws.
