Neymar is cut from the national team after exams. Gabriel Jesus takes over

By Gustavo Castilho

The forwarder was already out of the game against Venezuela but was expected to face Uruguay.

Neymar will not wear the Brazilian yellow shirt in the last games of the Brazilian team this year. After four days of preparation at Granja Comary, in Teresópolis (RJ), there was hope that Brazil’s number ten would face Uruguay next week since the absence of the match with Venezuela was certain, but a new medical evaluation was made and the management chose to cut him.

The Brazilian team is already in São Paulo where they will face Venezuela. The match will take place at Morumbi Stadium, at 9:30 pm, Brasília time. Coach Tite’s team leads the qualifiers with six points within two games. Venezuela is already in the penultimate position with zero points. Brazil will have four changes compared to the match held last month. In addition to the absence of Neymar, who will have Gabriel Jesus as his substitute, the other changes will be in the goal and in the midfield. Under the goalposts, even with the return of Alisson, goalkeeper Ederson will be the starter in the goal. Recalling that Weverton was the starter in the last two games. Allan will replace Casemiro, who has Covid-19 and Everton Ribeiro replaced Philippe Coutinho. The Brazilian team experienced yet another absence in the squad. Yesterday morning, full-back Gabriel Menino tested positive for COVID-19 and will miss the team. After the match, the team travels to Montevideo, where next Tuesday they will face Uruguay.

If they win, Brazil takes over the isolated leadership since Argentina stumbled at home when they drew 1-1 with Paraguay. In the other game of the night, Bolivia lost 2-1 at home to Ecuador.
