Visitors win the first game in the quarterfinals of the Brazil Cup.

Rogério Ceni’s debut was not as the Flamengo fan expected. In Maracanã, São Paulo once again got the better of Flamengo. Brenner was the executioner of the rubro negro in the victory of the tricolor by 2 to 1. The game seemed to be headed for the tie, but the goalkeeper Hugo made a primary and fatal mistake. With the bad result, Flamengo now needs to win by a minimum difference on the scoreboard to take the dispute to penalties.

Another debutant of the night was coach Abel Braga, who also played at home, saw Internacional lose 1-0 to América-MG. Rodolfo scored for Coelho, who had an overwhelming start to the game. Now Colorado will need to revert the loss in Belo Horizonte. Internacional’s situation is similar to Flamengo. Both teams need at least to win by a minimum difference on the scoreboard to take the decision for the penalties.

Grêmio went to Cuiabá to face the hosts and won the game by 2 to 1. The game was not easy for the tricolor who came out ahead with Diego Souza. Willians Santana scored for Cuiabá and from a penalty, Jean Pyerre again brought the advantage back for the gauchos. Despite the defeat at home, Cuiabá remains alive in the competition. A victory by minimal difference also takes the game to penalties.

Palmeiras was the only principal who did his homework. The team had no difficulties and won Ceará by 3-0 at Allianza Parque. Gustavo Scarpa, Raphael Veiga, and Veron, scored for alviverde. Now the Vozão needs to win by at least three goals difference to take the match to penalties.

The return matches will take place next Wednesday, November 18th. According to the draw, the winner of São Paulo and Flamengo will face whoever wins between Grêmio and Cuiabá. The winner of Internacional e América-MG faces the winner of Palmeiras and Ceará.
