On penalties, Italy beats Spain and goes to the Euro final

With a 1-1 draw in normal time and overtime, Azurra is better off on penalties and now awaits the winner of England and Denmark

Italy is in the final of the Euro Cup. The Italian team beat the Spanish on penalties (4 to 2) after a 1-1 draw in normal time and in extra time. With the victory, Azurra secured a place in the decision of the European competition. The opponent will leave the clash between England and Denmark.

In front of 60,000 fans at Wembley, the two teams fought a well-balanced duel. The net didn’t swing until 15 minutes into the second half, when Donnarumma saved a ball in the area and started a counterattack quickly. The ball landed at the feet of Chiesa who opened the scoreboard.

After leaving behind on the scoreboard, coach Luis Henrique decided to change the team and put Morata to increase offensive power. It worked. On minute 35, the forward tied the match, after playing with Dani Olmo.

In penalties the star of Donnarumma shone. The goalkeeper defended the charge of Morata in the penalty shootout and sent the classification of Azzurra. It was up to Jorginho, a Brazilian naturalized Italian, to convert the decisive penalty and lead Italy to the final of the Euro after nine years. The last time was in 2012, precisely against Spain.
