With goals from Wesley and Gabriel Menino, Verdão wins gauchos by 2 to 0 and wins another cup
The Copa do Brasil is for Palmeiras for the fourth time. Playing at Allianz Parque, in São Paulo, the team from São Paulo took the best and beat Grêmio by 2 to 0. On the aggregate score it was 3 to 0 for Palmeiras, who had already won 1 to 0 in Porto Alegre. Goals only in the second half with Wesley and Gabriel Menino. Renato Gaúcho even moved the team for this return game, but it was of little use. Party for the alviverde crowd that won the third title of the season, something that has not happened since 1993. The achievement made Palmeiras reach 200 million reais in prizes in 2020.
With the victory of the Brazil Cup 2020, Palmeiras reached the fourth title in the competition. The first one was in 1998, against Cruzeiro, currently the biggest winner of the tournament with six titles. Then, in 2012, Verdão got the better of Coritiba. And in 2015, on penalties, Santos won, in one of the most remarkable games in the history of the tournament.
Who celebrated with the Palmeiras fan was Fluminense who guaranteed the direct place in the group stage of the Libertadores, with the fifth place in the Brasileirão. Grêmio, on the other hand, will need to play in the preliminary round of the continental competition.
With the 2020 season calendar already defined, Palmeiras, champion of the Brazilian Cup and Flamengo, Brazilian champion, will compete in the Super Cup of Brazil, on April 11, but still no place defined by the CBF.
