After another 0-0 draw in normal time, Leão wins and beats Vila Nova on penalties by 4-2
Remo ends the 2021 season cheering the fans. After relegation to Serie C, Leão saw the possibility of ending the year in a less painful way at Copa Verde and why not with a title?
The decisive clash against Vila Nova, at Baenão stadium, in Belém, was the chance for the Pará team to win again. On the other hand, a complicated opponent, who, unlike his rival, managed to stay in Serie B and also tried for the unprecedented title in the competition.
After 0-0 in normal time, the same scoreboard as the first game, in Goiânia, the game went to penalties, where the hosts won by 4-2.
Nobody shone more than goalkeeper Vinícius, who saved André Krobel and Johnatan Cardoso. Before, Rafael Donato and Clayton scored for Vila Nova. But it wasn’t enough, as Neto Pessoa, Raimar, Marlom and Fredson didn’t fail for Leão Azul.
It is the first time that Remo has won the Copa Verde, a competition that brings together teams from the Midwest and North, as well as Espírito Santo. Leão Azul had already disputed two decisions in the tournament, being second in the 2015 and 2020 editions.
With the title, Remo enters the third phase of the 2022 edition of the Copa do Brasil.
