Super Bowl 2023: Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs

It’s Super Bowl night! The Philadelphia Eagles vs Kansas City Chiefs game, valid for Super Bowl 57, takes place today at 8:30 pm (Brasília time). The match will be played at State Farm Stadium in Arizona (USA).

Teams compete for the NFL title in a single game. Both reach the decision with the best campaigns in their respective conferences – the two had 14 wins and three losses in the regular season. Eagles and Chiefs reached the postseason with the “seed 1”, owners of the best record in their conferences. This gave them the right to play all playoff games at home. In the 57 editions of the Super Bowl, only 14 times have the main “seeds” met.

The Eagles have lost just one of 17 games that quarterback Jalen Hurts has started, including the playoffs. Coach Nick Sirianni’s team has the league’s third-best offense in total points and yards.

The Chiefs are back in the Super Bowl for the third time in four years. The recipe for success goes through Patrick Mahomes once again. The quarterback won his second career regular season MVP award — his first coming in 2018.

Full Eagles can justify favoritism

Nick Siriani’s team has the most talented and complete roster in the league, with two 1000-yard receivers, a 1000-yard rusher and a quarterback who rushed for 10 touchdowns, along with a devastating defense that had the third most sacks in a single season.

The Eagles dominated the Giants and nullified San Francisco’s quarterback options, but will now face likely best player in the league, Patrick Mahomes. Jalen Hurts’ shoulder is a minor concern if the Chiefs manage to block the Eagles’ runs, which have their greatest weapon in their rushing yards: a season-record rushing touchdowns, with 32. It is with this strategy that the Eagles intend to keep Mahomes off the field for as long as possible and preferably chasing the scoreboard.

Chiefs rely on the magic of Mahomes

We’ve seen this movie before, with Mahomes having to run all over the field, especially back when the Chiefs were pressured by the Buccaneers in their last Super Bowl. The Kansas City team’s offensive line is better now than it was then, but Mahomes’ ankle will be put to a big test this Sunday.

The Chiefs need Mahomes to produce some magic, Travis Kelce to have another big game and Chris Jones and Frank Clark to somehow neutralize the Eagles’ ground strategy, which has so far proven unstoppable. There are many factors that need to come together for the Chiefs to reverse the Eagles’ favoritism.
