Supercopa do Brasil: Flamengo or Palmeiras, who takes the first trophy of the season?

Champion will earn R $ 5 million, while the runner-up will have R $ 2 million

Flamengo and Palmeiras enter the field to decide who will take the Brazil 2021 Super Cup. The first title of the season will be played this Sunday, at 11 am, at the Mané Garrinha Stadium, in Brasília. The two teams have dominated the national football scene in recent years. The red black is the current Brazilian champion, while Palmeiras has the title of the last Cup of Brazil.

In the retrospective of the confrontation, the alviverde team takes advantage, with 46 wins, 32 draws and 40 losses, in 118 games. In contrast, in the last clashes between the teams, Flamengo wins. Since 2017 the red black has not lost to the rival. Since then, there have been six games with three draws and three victories for the Rio club. Since 2019 there have been four games with Flamengo’s three wins.

Champion of the last edition, Flamengo goes in search of the second championship. Coach Rogério Ceni has the maximum strength for this duel that is worth the trophy. Palmeiras will not have Lucas Lima and Lucas Silva. The first felt pain in his thigh and was undergoing treatment in São Paulo, while the other is undergoing recovery after surgery. The other players are available to coach Abel Ferreira.

Even without counting a considerable part of the revenues in relation to the previous year, especially the proceeds from the box office, CBF will maintain the total prize pool of R $ 7 million to the finalist clubs. The great champion will earn R $ 5 million, while the vice-champion will have R $ 2 million.
