When will LeBron pass Kareem? NBA all-time scoring tracker

Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James needs 158 points to pass Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for the NBA‘s all-time regular-season scoring record (38,387 points).

James previously broke the record for most total points — regular season and playoffs — in February 2022, and on Jan. 16, he became just the second player in NBA history to score 38,000 career points.

After scoring 46 against the LA Clippers on Tuesday, James has now scored 40-plus points against all 30 NBA teams.

LeBron James’ recent scoring streak is “impossibly, all-time great”

James, who is averaging just under 30 points per game so far this season, is projected to break the record in the next five to six games. That means, barring injury, he could set the mark as soon as next month, when the Lakers play the Indiana Pacers on Thursday, Feb. 2 (8 p.m. ET).

James, who turned 38 years old in December, was drafted No. 1 overall in the 2003 NBA Draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Since then, he has won four NBA championships, four NBA Finals MVPs and four league MVPs. He has also been named an All-Star 18 times, one shy of Abdul-Jabbar’s record of 19 All-Star appearances, and in 2022, he was named to the NBA’s 75th Anniversary Team.
