With absences on the sides, Brazil and Uruguay face off in the Qualifiers

By Gustavo Castilho

On the Brazilian side, there are already eight players cut since the call-up list.

Coach Tite’s list of absences keeps growing. This time the victim was Allan, who complained of pain during the last training session. Arthur must be the replacement. Rodrigo Caio, Éder Militão, Gabriel Menino, Casemiro, Fabinho, Philippe Coutinho, Neymar, and Pedro, complete the list of the team’s cut-outs.

Brazil and Uruguay face off in Montevideo, at 8:00 pm, Brasília time. The Brazilian team continues to lead with nine points in three games played. The victory against Venezuela in São Paulo was not convincing, but it guaranteed 100% success in the qualifiers of the Qatar Cup.

On the Uruguay side, coach Óscar Tabarez also has headaches. Luis Suaréz and Rodrigo Muñoz tested positive for Covid-19 and will not face Brazil. In Luisito’s place, Darwin Núñez should be the replacement. Uruguay is in fourth place with six points within three games. A victory against Brazil places Celeste with the same number of points as the Brazilian team and mix up the entire classification. After today’s round, the Playoffs will take a break and will only come back in March next year.

Fourth Round:

Venezuela x Chile (in Venezuela)

Ecuador vs Colombia (in Ecuador)

Uruguay x Brazil (in Uruguay)

Paraguay vs Bolivia (in Paraguay)

Peru x Argentina (in Peru)
