Messi team draws inspiration from epic four-year feat to wipe out the French again
PSG and Barcelona will face each other soon, at 17:00, Brasília time, in Paris, in the second game of the Champions League round of 16. Barcelona’s mission is not at all easy, since playing at Camp Nou, the team was defeated by 4 to 1. Messi’s team seeks a resilience similar to what happened four years ago when, at a disadvantage of four goals, the team applied the historic 6 to 1 in the game of the lap and eliminated PSG. The disadvantage for today’s game is less, but it is still very complicated. Barça only advance if they win by four goals difference, or by three goals, as long as they score five.
A lot has changed in the two teams since then. Barcelona lost a good part of the players responsible for the epic turn and PSG reinforced itself very well. But the turnaround is proof that in football nothing is impossible.
PSG will not count on Neymar, who remains injured. The attacking trio should be formed by Veratti, Mbappé and Icardi. Besides the Brazilian striker, PSG also does not have Bernat (injured) and Kean (Covid-19). On the Barcelona side, the list of absences is large: Coutinho, Piqué, Fati, Sergi Roberto, Ronald Araújo.
